This weekend a "Star Wars Celebration" conference was held in California where the new content from the universe created by George Lucas was presented • Harrison Ford and Ewan McGregor were also there

This weekend closed the Star Wars Celebration in Anaheim, Southern California, near Disneyland, featuring tens of thousands of Star Wars fans disguised as their favorite characters from the cinematic universe created by director George Lucas 45 years ago.

This is the 14th conference in a row, and the first is three years due to the corona.

The timing this time was adjusted to promote the new content of the "Star Wars" universe, which is coming up on the streaming service Disney Plus (which is about to arrive in Israel in three weeks).

At the head of the promotions was the new and intriguing series "Obi-Wan Kenobi" starring Ewan McGregor, who returns to the character of Master Jedi who played in the prequel trilogy that came out in the early 2000s.

This is a character that the original trilogy from the seventies was played by Alex Guinness.

At the conference, the first two episodes of the series were premiered in a world premiere, the day before they aired at Disney Plus this weekend.

In a meeting with fans at the conference, McGregor said that "it is very special to return to play the character Obi-Wan Kenobi. In recent years we have felt the love for the prequel trilogy we have created, and this has had a huge impact on our decision to pick up the series."

On stage next to him sat actor Haydn Christiansen, who in the same trilogy played Anakin Skywalker, who later became known as the formidable Darth Vader.

Christiansen added that "it's a great journey to take the character anew and bring her to a different, darker and shattered place."

The main panel at the conference ended with a musical tribute to the legendary composer John Williams, who signed iconic tunes from films such as Star Wars, Jaws, Jurassic Park and Indiana Jones.

Williams celebrated his 90th birthday three months ago, and at the conference was excited to hear the audience spontaneously sing to him "Happy Birthday to you."

Williams has won 25 Grammy Awards and five Oscars, and has been nominated no less than 52 times (second only to the Oscar nomination, Walt Disney).

At the climax of the panel, when Williams conducted the chorus that played his best hits, Harrison Ford, who played Indiana Jones and Han Solo in Star Wars, surprisingly took the stage.

"It's a great pleasure for me to be here and a special honor to congratulate John on his 90th birthday," said Ford, who came to the conference to promote the fifth film in the "Indiana Jones" film series, which will be released in June 2023. "I told Lag "Von on a previous occasion that the music he created accompanies me everywhere I go, and that makes me very happy. We even played this tune on the speakers while I underwent a colonoscopy recently, and I passed successfully."

The conference was also preceded by the series "Endor", which will air in August at Disney Plus and is centered on Captain Xian Andor, who appeared in the film "One Rog: The Star Wars Story" from 2016.

Andor is played by Mexican actor Diego Luna ("Narcos: Mexico").

Other series promoted at the conference: a documentary series that will provide a behind-the-scenes look at the special effects department of Lucas Film, as well as a future series, "Skeleton Crew", about a bunch of lost boys in the galaxy trying to find their way home.

The cast will be led by Jude Law.
