This is the question that conductor and violinist Jean-Christophe Spinosi asked himself when launching his brand new festival: Overview Effect.

The founder of the Ensemble Matheus, one of the first masterminds of Vivaldi publishing at Naïve, devoted the majority of his recordings to the “Red Priest”.

But he is convinced of it:

“There is in Vivaldi a real dramaturgy directly inspired by the living and nature.

If he had been a composer in 2022, his music would therefore necessarily have reflected in one way or another the climate changes we are experiencing.

And, in this specific case, it is likely that his homage to the four seasons would have been quite different.
