Carlo Smuraglia, honorary president of the Anpi, lawyer and former parliamentarian, died in Milan.
Born in Ancona in 1923, he would have turned 99 in August.
Partisan, then a lawyer and teacher, Smuraglia was elected senator three times and then president of the National Partisan Association of Italy from 2011 until 2017 when he resigned and was later elected president emeritus of the Association.
He was a member of the CSM from February 1986 to July 1990.

The condolences of the Anpi - "His name will remain in the history of this country for the passionate participation in the Resistance, the strenuous commitment to the full implementation of the Constitution, rights and democracy".
With these words, the national secretariat of the Anpi announces its president emeritus Carlo Smuraglia.
"All the Anpi, in remembering the humanity, the wisdom and the strength with which Carlo presided over the Association - reads a note -, clings to the pain of his wife Enrica, children and grandchildren".
