Houses swept away by torrents of mud.
In Brazil, torrential rains killed more than 90 people.
In a few hours, in the night from Friday to Saturday, it fell 70% of the total volume of precipitation expected for the whole month of May.
The poor neighborhood of Jardim Monteverde in Recife, in northeastern Brazil, is one of the worst affected areas.
Maria Lucia da Silva, who lives in the neighborhood, was able to be evacuated in time to avoid being swept away by a mudslide.
But his neighbors were not so lucky: 11 people from the same family died and a 12th is missing.

“I no longer sleep, I no longer eat, the pain is too strong”, testifies Maria Lucia da Silva.
“I'm very sad, it's like it's my family.
I have lived here for 40 years, most of them I have seen them grow up, ”she says.
At the top of the hill, some houses are still standing, but a few meters away you can see a sheer chasm, almost vertical, where a thick layer of mud has devastated everything in its path.
