Goodbye Kazé, hello Crunchyroll.
The French publisher of manga (
Kaiju n°8, Mashle, The Promised Neverland
...) and Japanese animation DVDs announces this Wednesday to change its name in favor of that of its new parent company.
This is a page that is turning for a company founded in 1994, which began its activities by publishing in France in the form of VHS Japanese cartoons such as
The Chronicles of the Lodoss War

Crunchyroll, which publishes the video platform of the same name, aims to be the world leader in importing Japanese entertainment.
By bringing animation and publishing together under a single brand, the group hopes to anchor itself as a benchmark in the minds of consumers.
This rapprochement is not meaningless according to Rahul Purini, the group's president: “
animated and manga go hand in hand
”.
The businessman, who took over the reins of the company only a few weeks ago, takes the opportunity to salute the “
extraordinary work
” carried out over the past 30 years by Kazé.
Crunchyroll merged with Funanimation, a Sony subsidiary in 2021. The two combined entities have been organizing a restructuring of the various subsidiaries for several months to avoid diluting the power of the brand too much.
The recent consolidation of the animation catalogs of the French platforms Wakanim and ADN towards that of the Crunchyroll streaming platform suggests that these will - eventually - be merged.
An open file that could be decided this summer.
