(ANSA) - BRUSSELS, JUN 01 - The European Commission has given its positive opinion on Croatia's entry into the euro zone starting from January 1, 2023. It will become the twentieth country to adopt the single currency.
Croatia, according to the Brussels assessment, "meets the four nominal convergence criteria and its legislation is fully compatible with the requirements of the Treaty and the Statute of the European System of Central Banks / ECB".
The final decision by Ecofin is expected on 12 July, after the discussions in the Eurogroup and the European Council, and after the opinions of the European Parliament and the ECB.
