Queen Elizabeth II will not attend the thanksgiving service in her honor on Friday.
This was announced by Buckingham Palace after the official celebrations for the 70th throne anniversary had begun with the "Trooping the Color" parade in London.
The 96-year-old Queen has felt "some discomfort" and will miss the ceremony at St. Paul's Cathedral "with a heavy heart," the palace said.
A planned ceremony in Windsor, at which the Queen should light a beacon, will continue to be attended, it said.
The Queen's second eldest son, Prince Andrew, will also not attend the service.
According to Buckingham Palace, the 62-year-old was infected with Corona.
However, due to his involvement in a sexual abuse scandal, Andrew largely withdrew from the public eye years ago.
The monarch had appeared on the balcony of her London city palace, Buckingham Palace, during the celebrations – smiling and obviously in a good mood.
However, the Queen has been suffering from mobility problems for months and has repeatedly canceled important events.
