It's finally here: the 9-euro ticket.

But passengers should find out about the validity of the ticket before they start their journey – otherwise there is a risk of fines.

Munich - Until shortly before the start of the 9-euro ticket, around seven million of the special tickets were sold.

The high demand shows that the transport companies have to reckon with many passengers.

And the people to the fullest.

Deutsche Bahn wants to use 50 additional trains and increase staff, reports

.

They are to be used primarily along the tourist routes towards the North and Baltic Seas and in the south.

Passengers should know that the 9-euro ticket is not valid for every train journey, the ticket is finite and the four-legged friend has to buy it separately.

Otherwise it can get expensive.

9 euro ticket: how long is it valid?

The 9 euro ticket is always valid for one calendar month.

If you only buy the ticket on June 10th, you can only use it until the end of June.

Anyone who drives without a 9-euro ticket or with an outdated ticket pays a fine.

A new ticket must be purchased for the following month.

Passengers who want to purchase the ticket for the entire time pay 27 euros.

It always pays off.

For comparison: The MVG Isarcard costs 227.50 euros for all zones in Munich – per month.

9 euro ticket: where to buy it?

Consumers can buy the ticket pretty much anywhere there are tickets for local transport.

For example at the sales outlets, at the ticket machine, at the Deutsche Bahn and of course digitally via apps from the companies.

The Association of German Transport Companies (VDV) has its own 9-euro ticket app that can be downloaded from popular platforms.

9-euro ticket: do subscribers get their money back?

Holders of an annual ticket or a ticket subscription do not have to do anything else.

The fare will be automatically reduced to nine euros over the three months.

Anyone who has paid the money in advance will receive the amount back from the transport company or will be credited with free months.

However, customers will have to be patient.

The transport companies have several million regular customers.

However, not all subscription customers receive a refund.

A refund is not planned for the most loyal customers of the Bahn, those with a BahnCard 100.

The argument is that the Bahn-Card-100 is a subscription for local and long-distance transport and the 9-euro ticket is not valid for long-distance transport.

9 euro ticket: Validity and fines

A city trip to Berlin with the ICE with the 9-euro ticket in your pocket?

No, the term "Germany-wide" causes misunderstandings.

In principle, the ticket is valid for local public transport and regional transport companies.

These include the Bavarian Regiobahn in and around Munich.

However, some train providers do not participate in the 9-euro ticket.

For example Flixtrain, ÖBB, Thalys or the WestBahn.

Anyone who gets on such trains with a 9-euro ticket is considered a fare dodger and has to pay a fine.

Fines are also due for passengers in the ICE, EC, IC or ECE who have a 9-euro ticket in their pocket but no valid ticket for long-distance trains.

The 9 euro ticket is not valid here.

Anyone who only sits on the ICE to Berlin with a valid 9-euro ticket is considered a stowaway and must expect a fine for fare evasion.

In the worst case, this can cost 200 euros.

9 euro ticket: Is it possible to travel from Munich to Sylt?

However, passengers who want to go on excursions and have a lot of time can use the 9-euro ticket to make their way to the distant destination - anywhere in Germany.

The 9-euro ticket is valid for 2nd class rail passenger transport on the regional train (RB), the regional express (RE) or the interregioexpress (IRE).

9-euro ticket: is it also valid for bicycles and dogs?

The four-legged friend cannot get his own 9-euro ticket.

Neither does the bike.

A ticket must be purchased in accordance with the relevant regulations.

Holidays and the cheap ticket campaign: Passengers should be prepared for well-filled trains.

Seat reservations are not possible on local transport.

A cultivated coexistence and offering seats to older passengers, mothers with small children, the infirm or pregnant women should therefore be a matter of course.
