(ANSA) - NEW YORK, 02 JUN - The resignation of Sheryl Sandbergda number two from Meta leaves a void in Silicon Valley, where high-profile women are increasingly a rarity and BigTech is increasingly confirmed as a club of almost men only.

The step back marks the end of an era for one of America's most famous female managers and one of the symbols of Silicon Valley.

Even though women have made progress in the past few years, the top management levels are still dominated by men.

In 2021, only 26% of chief executives and general managers were women.

A low but increasing rate compared to 15% in 2019.
