Jihad Remmo was released from custody this Friday.

On May 10, the 22-year-old was arrested as the seventh suspect in the theft of jewels from the Green Vault in Dresden.

On May 11, an arrest warrant was issued.

His defense attorney's appeal was successful.

The Dresden Regional Court lifted the arrest warrant for Jihad Remmo.

"The urgent suspicion has not been confirmed by the regional court," his Berlin criminal defense lawyer Stephan Schneider told SPIEGEL on Friday.

The court sees no risk of escape or collusion.

Jihad Remmo does not have a relevant criminal record and has known about the investigation against himself for a long time, said a court spokesman.

Due to a lack of reasons for detention, the question of the urgent suspicion could be left open.

The public prosecutor's office in Dresden announced to SPIEGEL that they would consider filing an appeal against the decision.

"Aware of the entire crime plan"

Since the end of January, six members of the Berlin Remmo clan have had to answer before the Dresden Regional Court, including Jihad Remmo's brother Bashir.

The men are said to have stolen 21 pieces of jewelry with 4,300 diamonds and brilliants from the Green Vault in Dresden in the early morning of November 25, 2019.

They are also accused of setting fire to a getaway car in a Dresden underground car park.

Jihad Remmo regularly followed the trial of his family members as a spectator.

On May 10, he was arrested in the courthouse after the hearing.

The public prosecutor's office in Dresden accuses Jihad Remmo of assisting the six suspects in breaking into the Green Vault, stealing the Saxon Treasure and also in the particularly serious arson in the underground car park.

"With knowledge of the entire crime plan," Jihad Remmo is said to have "comprehensively prepared and planned the crime," senior public prosecutor Jürgen Schmidt said in May on the day Jihad Remmo was arrested.

The testimony of the accused Rabieh Remo in court "contributed not insignificantly to the establishment of the strong suspicion".

On March 29, Rabieh Remo had his defense attorney read a statement on his behalf.

In it, Rabieh Remo stated that Jihad Remmo was behind the wheel of a car that Rabieh Remo and other men drove to Rabieh Remo's apartment in Berlin on the evening of November 24, 2019;

Rabieh Remo got clothes there for the burglary and then met other people and wanted to drive with them to the Green Vault in Dresden that night.

Jihad Remmo, Rabieh Remo and the others were stopped by the police in Berlin.

Your personal details have been identified.

There were burglary tools in the trunk.

Rabieh Remo then says he didn't go to Dresden after all.

What Jihad Remmo did afterwards – he did not comment on that.
