The High Speed train, on the Turin-Naples line

was involved in an accident near the Serenissima tunnel in Rome.
There were about 230 people on board who were made safe: there would be no injuries.
This is the Frecciarossa 9311 which left Turin at 8.50am.
The train left Termini station at 13.59 and should have arrived in Naples at 15.03
.
At the moment, it is learned from sources of the rescuers, the High Speed line is blocked at the point of the accident and the trains are diverted to alternative lines.
According to an initial reconstruction of the accident
, "The train entered the tunnel without problems. Then, for reasons that will have to be ascertained, there was probably
an anomalous sway and the tail locomotive crashed into the entrance to the Serenissima tunnel.
". This is what was reported to reporters by
the fire inspector of the fire brigade Pasquale Labate
.
The passengers, confirms Labate, have been made safe, while on the still blocked railway line there are various debris caused by the collision of the train with the tunnel.
An initial information from Polfer regarding the accident that took place this afternoon is expected at the Prosecutor's Office in Rome.

TRAFFIC BLOCKED ON THE LINE
- There are up to 90 minutes of delays on the High Speed line between Turin and Rome where a carriage of a train left the platforms at the Prenestina station in Rome.
At the moment there are eight High Speed trains routed on alternative lines, as Trenitalia itself announces on its website.

THE TESTIMONY OF THE PASSENGERS
I - "We were afraid, everything happened after leaving Termini. The train hit the brakes and then smoke in the carriage. The light and the air conditioning went out."
It is the story of Simonetta who was aboard the high-speed train that crashed into a tunnel in Rome.
"We were left in the dark for minutes - adds another passenger - then the firefighters arrived and made us get off. We walked in the tunnel for over a kilometer".
"When we saw the smoke we were thinking of something very serious.
At first the extent of the accident was not understood, I thought the worst. "This is told by a tourist who was on board the high-speed train that crashed into a tunnel in Rome." I'm headed to Sorrento. for a holiday and honestly I would not have thought of experiencing such a thing - he adds -.
Fortunately, in the end, no one was hurt. "The passengers who were on the train were made to get off and taken to the Togliatti station and from there transferred to the Termini station. Red Cross staff are distributing water and assisting passengers older.
