No entertainment without swords, battles and castles?

Anyone who chooses series and films according to this motto will get their money's worth on streaming portals.

Netflix, Amazon Prime Video to Sky: All streaming providers have countless productions in their repertoire that are based on historical events.

Whole kingdoms are attacked by Vikings, like in the Netflix series "The Last Kingdom".

Or lords are overthrown by their own kind, fair maidens are ensnared by knights, or armies are led into battle.

The triumphs of series such as "Vikings", "Barbarians" or "The Tudors" show: Series and film junkies have a heart for

stories that take place in the Middle Ages and are based on historical events.

Are you addicted to medieval and historical films and series and looking for new inspiration?

With the following two Netflix films you dive back into the

world of lords, round tables and damsels.

1. Outlow King

The Netflix series "Outlaw King" follows the story of the Scottish King Robert I.

The production not only scores with prominent actors: the main character Robert I., also known as Robert the Bruce, is mimed by Chris Pine.

The proximity to the historical facts also makes "Outlaw King" one of the better medieval films.

The action takes place during the Scottish Wars of Independence, which took place between 1296 and 1357.

Set loose by the Scottish freedom fighter William Wallace, the Scots fought against the English.

In the end, however, it was Robert Bruce, also known as Robert I, who fought for the freedom of the Scots.

In "Outlaw King" you can not only refresh your knowledge of history

: The costumes and the authentic medieval flair shown in the film will not only please medieval fans.

2. The King

You'll also see familiar faces in the Netflix series The King.

The main character, the English king Henry V of England, is played by

Dune star Timothèe Chalamet and Robert Pattinson also stars

as the son of the French king.

Admittedly, historians will find in "The King" more deviations from the real events of the early 15th century in which the film takes place.

But especially in the sequences in which war and horror is shown, viewers have to be prepared for unembellished and realistic shots, as the Gamestar portal warns.
