This amateur video shows several overturned wagons of a derailed regional train.
Large-scale operation for all available rescue workers near Garmisch: A double-decker regional train derailed at midday on the route to Munich near Burgrain.
According to the police, at least four people died in the accident and around 30 travelers were injured.
Police spokesman Harald Bauer:
»The rescue operation is running first. The injured are cared for, the uninjured are rescued and brought to a collection point where they can then be received by their relatives. Of course, the investigations into the cause of the accident are also being carried out at the same time.«
According to the federal police, some people were trapped on the train, and other injured people could be pulled out of the windows.
At least 15 seriously injured had to be taken to nearby hospitals.
Numerous Bundeswehr soldiers are said to have been on the train, who quickly provided first aid and helped with the evacuation.
It has not yet been determined why the train derailed.
