On Monday, June 6, the Italians "finish" paying taxes and social security contributions to the State and from Tuesday the so-called "tax freedom day", the day of fiscal release, starts. (HANDLE)

(ANSA) - MESTRE (VENICE), 04 JUN - On Monday 6 June, Italians "finish" paying taxes and social security contributions to the State and the so-called "tax freedom day" starts on Tuesday.

Compared to 2021, this year the appointment arrives one day earlier, exactly after 157 working days, including Saturdays and Sundays.

    The calculation is made by the Studies Office of the CGIA diMestre (Venice), specifying that the identification of the "tax release day" is nothing more than "a pure theoretical exercise that serves to demonstrate, if still needed, the excessive weight tax burden on Italians ".

    In 2021 the national tax burden reached the threshold of 43.5%, which places Italy in sixth place among the 27 Uedietro countries in Denmark (48.1%), France (47.2%), Belgium (44.9 %), Austria (43.8%) and Sweden (43.7%).

Last year the EU average stood at 41.5%.

    Looking at the historical series, the earliest "day of liberation" was in 2005, the year in which the tax burden stood at 39% and for Italian taxpayers it was enough to reach 23 May (142 working days);

the most "late" was last year, with the tax burden at 43.5% and June 8 as the day of release.

It is correct to point out that this record peak in the tax burden is not attributable to an increase in the levy but to the decisive growth recorded by the national GDP (over 6.5%) after the vertical drop in 2020 (-9%).
