(ANSA) - VATICAN CITY, JUNE 05 - The Pope, at ReginaCoeli, feared the risk of an "escalation" in the conflict in Ukraine and launched a new appeal for "concrete" peace negotiations.
"One hundred days after the start of the armed aggression against Ukraine - Pope Francis said - humanity has once again fallen the nightmare of war which is the denial of God's dream: peoples who clash, peoples who are killed, people who, instead of approaching, it is driven away from its own homes. And while the fury of destruction and death rages and conflicts flare up, fueling an escalation that is increasingly dangerous for all, renew the appeal to the leaders of the nations: do not lead humanity to ruin, please, do not bring humanity to ruin.
Real negotiations are underway, concrete negotiations for an unceasing fire and for a sustainable solution "." Listen to the desperate cry of the suffering people, we see it on the media every day.
Respect for human life, stop the macabre destruction - the Pontiff asked - of cities and villages everywhere.
Please continue to pray, to commit ourselves to peace without getting tired. "Finally, Pope Francis expressed solidarity with the fishermen and all categories of workers who are suffering the consequences of the conflict in Ukraine, first of all the increase in fuel prices.
