A motorcyclist died in an accident on the Nordschleife of the Nürburgring in the Eifel.
The 54-year-old lost control of his machine on Whit Monday as part of the tourist trips there on the "Kallenhard" section, the police said.
Accordingly, he left the roadway of the world-famous race track in Adenau (Ahrweiler district) and crashed into the crash barrier and a delineator post.
He died at the scene of the accident.
The Nürburgring is used by both professionals and amateurs and is open to tourist drives on days when there are no events or tests.
Hobby racers are allowed to drive their own cars on the track.
Last year, a motorist died on a tourist drive when he crashed into a stationary tow truck.
The cult festival "Rock am Ring" took place at the Nürburgring from Friday to Sunday.
