(ANSA) - ROME, JUN 07 - Italian GDP is expected to continue growing both in 2022 (+ 2.8%) and in 2023 (+ 1.9%), albeit slowing down compared to 2021. Istat notes this in the report 'The outlook for the Italian economy 2022-2023'.
"The outlook for the next few months is characterized by high downside risks such as further increases in the price system, a decline in international trade and an increase in interest rates", Istat points out, adding that "the expectations of households and businesses could also suffer a significant worsening ".
The Government's estimate in the Def of April was for this year a GDP of + 3.1%.
On the inflation front, "growth is expected to continue in the next few months and then slow down, albeit with uncertain times and intensity", notes the Institute of Statistics, explaining that in the average of 2022 the rate of change of the household spending deflator is expected to grow ( + 5.8% from + 1.7% in 2021) while the GDP deflator will mark + 3.4% (+ 0.5% in 2021).
"Assuming that the upward pressures in commodity prices are contained and in the presence of a stabilization of oil and the exchange rate, inflation is expected to partially decelerate in the next year", adds Istat.
