"Return to reading does not stop and even continues": Hebrew Book Week 2022 | Israel today

The Israel Publishers' Association will mark this year's event as "Welcome to Drift", including an award that returns after a five-year hiatus


Receive another happy gathering that marks the end of the Corona era: Hebrew Book Week, which will take place this year around the country between 15-25.6, as part of which there will be many and varied activities for the whole family, meetings with writers and more.

The Israel Publishers' Association will mark Hebrew Book Week as "Welcome to Drift" in several centers in Israel, including the Sharona complex in Tel Aviv, the Jerusalem station complex, and 15 traveling fairs in various localities in the periphery under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture. To read their books in a dedicated compound, book-following plays, art workshops and other activities.

An important thing that comes back after a five-year hiatus is the Bernstein Prize, which was last awarded in 2017, and this year will be awarded at the Sharona complex.

The purpose of the Bernstein Prize is to encourage beginning writers who have published only two books and who have not received any support or award for their book in the past.

The prizes that will be awarded will be three: a prize for an original Hebrew novel (NIS 25,000), a prize for an illustrated children's book (NIS 15,000), and a prize for an original Hebrew poetry book (NIS 7,000).

Bini Trivax, CEO of Matar Publishing and Chairman of the Publishers' Association, adds: "The book industry during the Corona period and after it has enjoyed incredible prosperity. The phenomenon of returning to reading does not stop and even continues."
