(ANSA) - ISTANBUL, 08 JUN - "The food crisis does not originate from this war".
This was stated by the Russian Foreign Minister, Serghei Lavrov, during a press conference held in Ankara with his Turkish counterpart, Mevlut Cavusoglu.
"The Russian federation has not created any obstacles for the passage" Lavrov said of the ships with agricultural products blocked in Ukrainian ports, arguing that only the West sees this situation as a "catastrophe".
"In reality - added Lavrov - only less than 1% of the world production of wheat and other cereals is blocked", therefore "it has nothing to do with chrysialiments".
Lavrov, however, said he appreciated "the efforts of our Turkish friends to unlock the grain, clear the Ukrainian ports and allow access to the foreign ships who are currently being held hostage."
