(ANSA) - VATICAN CITY, JUNE 08 - The Pope criticizes the cultivation of "the myth of eternal youth as the desperate obsession of incorruptible flesh".
"So many tricks, so many surgical interventions", the Pope said in the general audience, continuing the catechesis on old age.
Francesco quoted Anna Magnani when he asked not to hide her wrinkles from her because she had taken "so many years to get them".
Wrinkles are testimony of "experience, maturity" and "wisdom is like good wine: the older you get, the better it is".
Regarding medicine and cosmetics, the Pope added: "wellbeing is one thing, the nourishment of the myth" of youth "is another thing. (ANSA).
