Actress Julia Garner ("Ozark", "Invent Anna") is expected to play Madonna in a new biographical drama that will deal with the iconic singer's early career.
The 28-year-old Garner (whose mother is Israeli actress Tami Gingold) defeated dozens of contestants on her way to the role, including Florence Poe ("Black Widow," "Little Women"), Alex Demi ("Euphoria"), Odessa Yank and singer Sky Pereira.

According to various reports, the audition process was unusually long and tedious and included singing and dancing training that lasted for days.
Madonna, who will also direct the film, personally oversaw the process.
The 63-year-old singer also wrote the script - along with Erin Sarsida Wilson (the erotic drama "The Secretary") - and is one of the producers.
With the announcement of the production of the new film, Madonna said she hopes she will be able to "convey the amazing journey" she went through as an artist, noting that the main focus of the film will be her music.

In a few weeks, Buzz Lorman's "Elvis", which deals with the life of Elvis Presley, will be released, and other films that are currently in various stages of work, including a film about Bob Marley, a film about "Weird El" Yankovich (starring Daniel Radcliffe), a series about the band U2 (produced by JJ Abrams) and a series directed by Martin Scorsese about the band Great Grateful Dead (with Jonah Hill as the band's leader, Jerry Garcia).
