Even TikTok has its own memoji, Apple and Snapchat-style smileys, which resume the appearance of users to transform them into stickers and animated characters.

All thanks to the new filter, called TikTok Avatars, which creates characters starting from the face taken by the application's camera.

Once obtained, it is possible to publish content and stories using avatars, a way to hide one's appearance while preserving the rest of the body.

"Creating inclusive features and experiences remains our priority and we will continue to listen to our community at every stage of development," the company said.

To try the new filter, you will need to update the app on iOS and Android and search for "avatar" in the TikTok effects, then scroll down until you find the

effect called "TikTok Avatars".

At launch, TikTok offers both 20 smileys to choose from and the opportunity to create one from scratch, via camera.

The app allows you to change features such as skin tone, mouth, nose and eyes or add headdresses and jewelry.

Once the process is complete, you can record videos and take photos showing the avatar, which will reproduce the movements and expressions of the face.

Options are limited but TikTok explained that it will accept user feedback and work with its Creator Diversity Collective to improve and update the service.
