After three successful seasons, Rainbow 12's docu-series, "The Interns," will return tonight for a fourth season.
In the new season, the cameras will follow the professional and personal lives of five interns at three hospitals.
The series was directed and created by Gal Raz.
The new season of "The Interns" was filmed in three hospitals: Ichilov, Sheba and Beilinson, in the departments of heart, transplants, orthopedics, neurosurgery and plastic surgery.
One of the most intriguing participants of the season is Dr. Oriana Harn, 34, a young senior in the plastic surgery department at Ichilov. She is a new immigrant from Venezuela and will soon be leaving to do an internship in New York. It was not in my plans and it happened almost by accident, "she says," I came for a family visit and they took me on a tour of Ichilov, and I immediately got excited. "
What was here that was not there?
“I studied in Venezuela and started an internship in the US.
When I got here, I felt it was a more appropriate place and similar to the place I came from.
I had an impressive resume because I passed all the tests of the American license, and I sent them to Ichilov because I heard that complex surgeries are done there and that interested me very much.
I got two emails back: the first from a manager who wrote that there are no standards, and the second from the current manager who wrote that he has no standards but he wants to know me.
That's where it all started. "
How did you get along with the language?
"I was assured that everything would be fine and that everyone would speak English, and when I arrived in Israel I realized that if I needed the patients' empathy we should speak the same language. I knew I had to work very hard to impress everyone. I would arrive at four in the morning and take all the documents and translate. "The patient is in Hebrew. I remember that at the end of the period I had an interview and I was told that I passed unanimously. It was one of the happiest days of my life."
How did you react when you were offered to participate in "interns"?
"After they approached me I started watching previous seasons and saw a very professional program. The fact that there was no expression for plastic surgery until now annoyed me. There was no place, platform or program that gave a different angle of the profession of post-accident recovery and cancer. "And if I could be the conduit for people to know that surgery is beyond a beautiful nose and breast augmentation, I would love to be the one to do it."
You'll be leaving for New York soon.
"I had fun here. Getting to Israel and going through everything I went through was worth every moment, and sharing my work is a great honor for me."
Are you sure you'll be back?
"I am waiting for the moment when I will return here and be able to give the best possible care. My heart is here."
