The Israeli public clearly prefers the low cost
I went through the report published by the Airports Authority for May 2022, and beyond the impressive increase in activity compared to the corresponding month in 2021, the data that jumped out before my eyes were the data of the low-cost carriers.
In May,
the
market share of low-cost companies was 27.85 percent
, compared to the three Israeli companies combined, whose combined market share was 29.89 percent. -
The figure is amazing:
1,553,205 passengers flew in companies defined as low-cost companies.
This is about 29 percent of all flights to and from Ben Gurion Airport. The obvious conclusion from these data is that the Israeli public clearly prefers low-cost carriers to destinations to which they fly seven days a week.
As low-cost carriers add more lines, they will fill them at the expense of "regular" airlines.
These are cheap point-to-point flights.
No need for "the most at home in the world" if there is a good price and availability.
No need for food, a system of music and movies, chairs that can be moved back and a suitcase in the belly of the plane.

Finally, some useful tips for those who are planning flights this summer abroad
Pre-check your computer.
Arrive at Ben Gurion Airport three to three and a half hours before the scheduled flight date.
Try to fly from point to point and not on connection flights.
If you still decide on a connexion, then leave an interval of two hours between landing and a connecting flight and do not take luggage with you, only handbags and trolleys.
Be patient at the airports - there will be a big mess and you may find yourself with no connecting flights.
