Hebrew Book Week will kick off on Wednesday, during which festivals, special meetings with writers, launches and events for children and adults are expected.

One of the most intriguing and high-quality festivals to be held in Jerusalem is "Hospital for Books: Boys 'and Girls' Book Week Festival" at Beit Avi Chai.

The festival will include the launch of the book "Carmel - The Comics" by Meira Goldberg-Barnea and the illustrator Nadav Nachmani, a literary meeting between David Grossman and Idan Alterman, an art workshop led by illustrator Aya Gordon-Noy, a meeting and writing workshop for youth with Liat Kutner, and story performances The children's books "The Perfect Gift", "Rhino-type Unicorn" and "Tzipi and Tzof".

Why it's worth going: special sessions with "Publishers", where each child will be able to write their own personal story;

"Poetic Pharmacy" which distributes medicines and vitamins from the books;

And the "Hospital of the Books," which will contain workshops for the healing of "wounded books" from overuse, which the participants will bring from the private library, or "wounded" books collected from around the country and donated after their rehabilitation to pediatric wards in hospitals.

In the yard of Beit Avi Chai, there will be a book sale fair adapted to the height of the children, figures that will "come out" of the bookshelves and walk around the area, and food stands from the books - from hot corn to raspberry juice.

Also this year, an independent book fair will be held at Cafe Shapira in Tel Aviv, which will contain the literary output of 42 independent publications initiated by the "Literary Collective".

The event will take place on June 17-15 and will sell books by publishers such as Carmel, Babel, Afik, Asia, Persimmon Books, Locus, Haba Laor, Ruth Library, and many more.

In addition to the stalls, there will be story time for children, literary meetings, a lecture on the climate crisis, a reading performance by Tangier Publishing, a reading from the lesbian poetry anthology "All the Will", and more.
