Andrea Pirlo has signed a one-year contract to coach Fatih Karagümrük, the Turkish top flight club announced on Sunday.
"Pirlo has signed a contract that makes him a member of Karagümrük for one year from 1 July," the Istanbul team said on Twitter, posting a photo of the 2006 Italian world champion in front of the club's logo.
The 43-year-old former Juventus and Milan midfielder Pirlo was sacked by Juventus at the end of May 2021, at the end of his first season as a manager marked by two wins (Coppa Italia and Supercoppa) but disappointing in the league and in the Champions League.
Karagümrük finished eighth in the Turkish Super Lig in the 2021-2022 season.
The Turkish club had already been coached by another Italian, Francesco Farioli.
