The money is to be paid out by the employer as a salary subsidy, with the self-employed instead reducing the advance tax payment.

Consumers in Germany not only have to dig deeper into their pockets for food prices.

But also, for example, for heating and electricity.

In order to cushion the costs for those affected at one point or another, the traffic light has launched several measures to relieve the financial burden on citizens.

Part of the relief package is the so-called

energy price flat rate of 300 euros gross

for employees and the self-employed, which is intended to cushion increased travel costs to work.

This energy flat rate is to be

transferred with the salary for employees in September or October

, as reported by the German Press Agency (dpa).

Every

employee

who is subject to income tax and who is sorted into tax brackets 1-5 should therefore benefit from this.

However, the lump sum is subject to income tax.

In other words, if you have a high tax rate, you will get less out of it in the end –

if you stay below the basic tax-free allowance, on the other hand, you will benefit from the full amount

.

self-employed

should be able to deduct the energy flat rate from the advance tax payment in September, as dpa further reported.

The fact that millions of

pensioners

should meanwhile go empty-handed caused criticism.

Pensioners do not receive the support, "unless they still have a mini job in retirement," according to the information from the wage tax assistance (Lohi) Bavaria according to the announcement (as of May 24).

Students shouldn't benefit either - with probably one exception: "Mini-jobs are very common among students, which is why most of them can probably look forward to an additional 300 euros in September," as the Augsburger Allgemeine reported in its online edition on the subject.
