(ANSA) - PALERMO, June 13 - The guarantee interrogation was set for tomorrow, in front of the investigating judge of Palermo, of Francesco Lombardo, candidate for the municipal council of Palermo for the Brothers of Italy, and for the boss Vincenzo Vella, a mobster from Brancaccio, arrested three days ago on charges of mafia political electoral exchange.
The investigation, coordinated by the deputy prosecutor Paolo Guido, which follows another investigation that, on June 8, had brought to prison, with the same charges, an aspiring municipal councilor of Forza Italia, Pietro Polizzi, and the mafia builder Agostino Sansone.
Polizzi and Sansone replied to the investigating judge by denying the existence of an electoral pact.
Illegal of Samson has asked for house arrest for reasons of health of his client.
Polizzi also announced, through his lawyer,
the withdrawal from the elections, but from electoral competition one cannot withdraw.
The daughters of Lombardo, however, on Facebook, a few hours after the arrest of their father, have launched an appeal to citizens to vote for him in any case.
