After a series of private and targeted openings, Norway officially opened its new national museum in Oslo on Saturday June 11 to the public, very close to the dark red brick City Hall of the Norwegian capital.
Almost discreet from the outside, with its gray mass that dissolves laterally into its surroundings, the new and sober Nasjonalmuseet, in gray schist, marble, bronze and oak by German architects Schuwerk + Kleihues, is intended to be durable in every way.
Despite appearances, it is of monumental dimensions.
Like its cost for this project, imagined 20 years ago, which resulted in a construction site of more than eight years on the edge of the fjord in the center of Oslo and which will have cost 6.1 billion NOK (Norwegian crowns ), or nearly 600 million euros.
