Starting in mid-August, the prequel to the film series »The Hunger Games« will be shot in the greater Duisburg area.
For "The Hunger Games: The Song of the Bird and Snake" based on the bestseller by Suzanne Collins, around 3,000 extras are now being sought to work in front of the camera for one to eight days of shooting.
The Eick agency offers an online casting for this, in which a data form has to be filled out.
Two current photos (portrait and full body) are also required.
Applications can be submitted until August 8th.
»Invited are people of all ethnicities and origins as well as all genders and gender identities, aged 8 to 80 years,« says Gregor Weber, co-owner of the Eick agency.
»Since many of these people are cast as residents of Panem, a natural and expressive appearance is a must.«
»Very slim and thin body types«
Visibly dyed or highlighted hair is unsuitable, as is permanent make-up, solarium tan, fixed braces, tunnel earrings, piercings and tattoos on visible parts of the body.
Applicants should also be willing to have their hair cut if necessary.
For some scenes you also need extras who have their hair shaved off.
Likewise, some people with basic military training would be wanted.
A large part of the population in the totalitarian state of Panem is also described in the book as severely malnourished.
"That's why we focus primarily on very slim and thin body types," says Weber.
In addition, many young people who are at least 17 years old but look younger are wanted.
»Applications from people with physical disabilities, including those with visible scars or amputations, are very welcome.«
The costume and mask rehearsals should take place from mid-July to mid-August, also in Duisburg.
According to the information, all participants are tested for Corona before their assignments and must comply with the usual hygiene rules at the location.
According to earlier reports, the film is set to hit theaters in November 2023.
The four films so far have grossed around three billion dollars worldwide from 2012 to 2015.
The new story takes place 64 years before the previous events.
US actress and singer Rachel Zegler and Brit Tom Blyth are scheduled to play the lead roles.
