Yesterday (Monday) at noon, the Harel Insurance Company received a report of an Israeli hiker in need of medical rescue in Georgia, after she slipped on a snowy slope and was injured during a trek in the Juta area at an altitude of 3,200 meters.
The hiker, in her 30s, slipped and slipped about 300 meters the day before, but since this is an area without cellular reception and there was no possibility to call for help, she spent the night there with her partner.
In the morning the couple went out towards the nearby village and after a walk that lasted about two hours managed to call for help.
Immediately upon receiving the update, the Harel RESCUE ONE rescue team conducted a situation assessment and decided to send a helicopter to the scene, with a field guide who is well acquainted with the scene of the incident.
The crew arrived at the scene within a short time however complex weather conditions prevailed at the site - including snow, fog and winds - and therefore a complex rescue was required.

"The partner said that the walker was hit in the head"
Gilad Telem from the rescue team of the Harel insurance company RESCUE ONE says that "this is an Israeli woman who got stuck in a mountainous area and at high altitude, after slipping in the snow, slipping and injuring her head. Her partner went down after her The decision to call a rescue helicopter was very quick. "
Telem adds: "The incident involved a number of factors that worried us. First, we knew that the local rescue unit was a two-hour drive from the area, and in addition they would have to walk 5 kilometers from the village to the promenade and all with equipment - so they would arrive in the dark. We know that the weather at the place is very changeable and may make the rescue difficult. And most importantly: the partner said that the hiker was hit in the head, which is an injury we do not take risks for. "A local area guide, who also lives in the area and Yashar recognized from the photos where the hiker is."
"Ucha knows every inch of the area, but because the weather at the place is changing rapidly, we made sure the helicopter took off soon," says Nazi Spiashvili, director of the local rescue team in Georgia.
"The helicopter picked up the partner but in the meantime the weather had already changed and there was a sudden fog on the mountain. There was a moment of uncertainty but it was clear to everyone, as always, that the hiker was not left in the field. In the highest position so that they could approach her, and immediately brought the local rescue team from the village. After the helicopter rescued the hiker, I drove with her to the hospital and she feels good. Over the years we have experienced quite a few cases, ".
