Iris Cole interviews Prof. Ribi Tauman on sleep disorders - Causes and treatment (Walla system)
Stress, restlessness, heat, noisy neighbors.
And even with a couple and children struggling with you for a place in bed - the list of things that can interfere with a person's sleep is longer than the list of corona symptoms.
This list may have symptoms that you do not even know you are experiencing as a result of an undiagnosed sleep disorder - or a health condition that leads to a sleep disorder.
If you experience one - or more than one - of the following symptoms during sleep, it may be time to consult your family doctor, as insufficient sleep affects every organ and limb in our body.

Snoring
Snoring is undoubtedly a problem that can make life in a relationship difficult, but not only.
Most people find it difficult to fall asleep next to a snoring person, while the snoring itself often feels helpless and guilty.
Beyond the social-marital problem, they may indicate a much more serious medical problem.
While snoring is often a transient or mild problem unrelated to an illness or medical problem, they can also indicate a medical problem.
Examples include conditions such as sleep apnea, nasal congestion (as in cases of allergic rhinitis), thyroid problems and enlarged tonsils.
Snoring is caused as a result of soft tissue vibration, especially in the soft palate area, airway narrowing that can be caused by a narrow anatomical structure in the airway, being overweight, or a structural problem at the base of the tongue and palate.
Interferes with a spouse but also with you.

Sleep Apnea
Sometimes snoring can indicate a problem with sleep apnea.
Respiratory arrest develops due to obstructive airway obstruction followed by a decrease in oxygen saturation, which causes a kind of "awakening" so that the person can breathe again.
Although people with sleep apnea can wake up many times a night to breathe, they usually do not remember it, but the consequences are manifested in increased fatigue, various diseases such as hypertension, diabetes, attention and concentration and heart disease or exacerbation of existing problems, and without Doubt may pose a health risk that requires medical intervention.
Chronic nightmares
Persistent nightmares can be caused by a number of different psychological triggers, with the most common being anxiety and depression.
Schedule changes that disrupt or reduce the amount of your sleep can also cause an increase in nightmares, as well as post-traumatic stress disorder.
Treating chronic nightmares may be necessary if your nightmares are causing distress, interfering with sleep and interfering with daytime functioning.
Nightmares may be a side effect of a drug you are taking, in which case your doctor may change the dose or prescription to relieve it.
Suffering quietly.

Teeth grinding
If you are one of those people who grits their teeth (also known as bruxism), there is a situation where you do not even know you are doing it, just quietly suffering from symptoms like headaches and jaw pain.
Most people who grit their teeth do so during the night, so many times the person who finds out they are suffering from the phenomenon is actually their partner.
So how does this happen?
Teeth grinding occurs when the mouth is closed and the teeth of the lower and upper jaws rub against each other.
In such a situation the teeth rub against each other and the jaw muscles contract and can even be caught.
There is not really one explanation for this phenomenon, which can damage your tooth, wear and even break it.
At the same time, most cases in adults are due to stress or anxiety and can go through with appropriate treatment.

Get up several times a night to pee
A phenomenon that becomes especially annoying on cold winter nights is called nocturia.
If you use the bathroom more than once a night, you also suffer from it.
Aside from worrying about your sleep sequence, the need to urinate at night should also light up your bulb from a health point of view.
Poor sleep due to the fact that the bladder woke you up can indicate an increased risk of developing diabetes, a weak immune system, kidney disease and more.
And we did not even mention mental aspects that could be related to nocturia.
It is also a marker for problems like anxiety and depression that are bothering you and you are trying unsuccessfully to suppress.
Under pressure, the central nervous system prepares for accelerated function and acts with increased sensitivity.
This means that lower stimulation is required to activate our natural reflexes, such as the need to urinate.
Your bladder knows everything about you and it will make sure you know it.
Move a lot and talk while sleeping
We all move during sleep but there are those who advocate violent behaviors during sleep, without meaning to of course, and their number stands according to studies at close to 2 percent of the population.
One of the explanations for the phenomenon of shouting and sharp shifts in sleep is that the dreamer "dramatizes" his dreams by frequently moving, hitting, kicking and even shouting.
Because we dream dreams in the sleep phase called REM or rapid eye movement, this disorder got the name: REM disorder.
A study on the phenomenon found that people with REM disorder are more likely to suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder, psychological distress and other types of mental illness.
Drug use or alcohol consumption - especially near bedtime, increase the chances of suffering from violent sleep disorders.
