Fallout 5: Bethesda confirms sequel – but gamers will have to wait a long time

Bethesda's mastermind Todd Howard confirms the existence of Fallout 5. In an interview he spoke about the publisher's future plans.

Hamburg – The whole world is talking about Starfield right now.

The first new role-playing game brand in 25 years may be the talk of the hour, but many fans of the developer are actually waiting for a new installment in the Fallout series.

Almost seven years have passed since Fallout 4 and, with the exception of Fallout 76, the post-apocalyptic role-playing game has been quiet.

Until now!

As reported by IPPEN.MEDIA ingame.de, Bethesda mastermind Todd Howard has now confirmed the existence of Fallout 5.

Is Fallout 5 already confirmed?

Yes, it is.

In the course of the big gameplay reveal of Bethesda's new sci-fi game Starfield, Todd Howard spoke about the future plans of the developer and publisher.

Bethesda plans its projects well beyond the release of Starfield, but before players can enjoy Fallout 5, there is another game to come:

“Yes, Elder Scrolls 6 is in pre-production and, you know, we're going to be doing Fallout 5 after that, so our slate's pretty full going forward for a while.

We have some other projects that we look at from time to time as well, but they do take a while.

I wish they came out faster, I really do.

We're trying as hard as we can, but we want them to be as best as they can be for everybody."

Before Fallout 5's turn, Bethesda unsurprisingly rushes into the next and already announced adventure from The Elder Scrolls universe.

After the release of Elder Scrolls 6, which currently appears to be in pre-production, Bethesda will start programming Fallout 5.

Fallout 5: It could be years before the game is released

When will Fallout 5 be released?

Unfortunately, in an interview with IGN, Todd Howard did not give a time frame for the release of The Elder Scrolls 6 or Fallout 5. However, players should probably be prepared for a fairly long waiting period.

Bethesda is known for tinkering with their games for a long time until finally the release day has dawned for them.

When Fallout 5 will appear and whether that will still be the case for the current Xbox Series X and PS5 consoles is still in the stars.

In general, it is questionable whether Fallout 5 will even appear for the PlayStation after Bethesda's takeover by Microsoft.

Fans of the Fallout series can still be happy, after all, a real sequel to the series has now been officially confirmed by Bethesda.
