Pina Bausch back at Châtelet

Barbe-Bleue

is an emblematic work of the work of choreographer Pina Bausch (1940-2009), who transforms this opera by Bela Bartok on the transgression of secrecy into a drama on incommunicability.

In conflict with the Wuppertal orchestra, Pina Bausch (who founded the Tanztheater Wuppertal company) decided in the 1970s to use recordings as a soundtrack for her shows.

Thus, Bartok's music is constantly stopped, replayed, manipulated by the dancers, becoming a scenic element, with repetition as an element of his choreographic vocabulary.

Claiming the land

: a title in the form of an injunction for the new season at the Palais de Tokyo.

Based on the achievements of anthropology, etiology and ecofeminism, it calls upon the relationships between the body and the earth, the disappearance of certain species... Thinking of the world in a global way, the exhibition curated by Daria de Beauvais presents 14 artists who work differently with the elements: earth, water, fire, air, plants, minerals.

They develop new connections with the environment under the aegis of Rachel Carson, at the origin of the environmental movement: "The land is neither a natural reserve nor an agricultural resource, it is a web of relations between minerals, plants, animals and humans.
