A high pressure area will ensure midsummer weather in Germany in the coming days.
Warm and hot air masses flow into the country, especially from the south and southwest, as Jens Bonewitz from the forecast center of the German Weather Service (DWD) explained.
The highest temperatures are therefore expected at the weekend.
Thunderstorms are also expected.
According to the meteorologist, clouds will appear in the north and east on
Thursday
, individual showers and thunderstorms are possible from Bavaria to Saxony.
The maximum values are in the northern half at 19 to 26 degrees, in the southern half at 26 to 31 degrees.
According to the DWD, there will only be a few thunderstorms on Friday on the edge of the Alps, otherwise it will remain dry and warm to
hot
.
The temperatures in the north are a maximum of 23 to 27 degrees, otherwise 27 to 32 degrees.
At the
weekend
, according to DWD expert Bonewitz, it will be "really hot" in the west and south-west with sometimes over 36 degrees.
Highs of 27 to 34 degrees are expected in the rest of the country, and 19 to 23 degrees on the sea.
Heavy thunderstorms
There could also be strong thunderstorms in the northwest and west, although the forecast is not yet certain.
On Sunday, the sometimes strong thunderstorms could then shift towards the center and south-east of the country.
In the north-west it should then cool down with showery rain, while in the south-east half it will remain hot with maximum values of 32 to 35 degrees.
