Lilacs in the garden not only provide a colorful eye-catcher, but also have an unmistakable scent.

So that it blooms for a long time, you should proceed cautiously.

Munich – Its scent is characteristic and immediately takes you to Provence: lilacs.

The shrub comes in different varieties and colors, some have white and purple, pink, blue or light yellow inflorescences.

The latter are also very large and candle-shaped and are made up of many small flowers.

Lilacs are also very popular in this country, after all, they bring color to the local greenery and smell very intense.

But much to the chagrin of some gardeners, most lilac varieties only bloom once in spring.

But there is one that shines in all its glory well into summer and autumn.

This is the noble lilac 'Bloomerang Dark Purple', which is striking with its color shading.

After all, it first blooms in a light violet color and finally becomes darker with the second bloom in summer.

In addition, this dwarf lilac has the advantage that it only grows one to two meters high and wide.

In order for the "Bloomerang Dark Puple" to thrive, it needs a place in the garden where it gets a lot of sun.

Otherwise, the American new breed of lilac is very easy to care for.

If you want to plant it, you should also ensure a nutrient-rich and well-watered soil.

The hardy shrub usually blooms for the first time in mid-May, then "pauses" in June and starts blooming again in July.

He usually does this until the first frost.

The only difference is that summer and fall bud sites are usually not as large as spring ones, but their color makes them eye-catching.

Lilac: Careful approach makes it bloom

And the perennial plant has another advantage over its peers: it is very robust and resistant to fungal diseases such as powdery mildew.

In order for the dwarf lilac to grow well, no radical pruning is required.

It is better to proceed cautiously and only trim it slightly.

In addition, you can also encourage growth by giving it regular fertilizer such as horn shavings.

Basically, the lilac gets along with many other perennial plants and shrubs, including:

  • crying heart

  • whiteseal

  • Siberian iris

  • catnip

  • rhododendron

These also bloom in spring and, together with the "Bloomerang Dark Puple", ensure lush flowers.

But daylilies, purple coneflowers and phlox also get along very well with it.

In late summer or autumn, it is best to add the common evening primrose, the stonecrop or chrysanthemums.

In addition, the lilac also makes a good cut flower in the vase and creates a feel-good mood with its sweet scent.
