(ANSA) - ROME - One third of tourist spending in the summer of 2022 will go to the table driven by the return of the desire for conviviality after two years of restrictions due to the pandemic.
This is what Coldiretti affirmed on the occasion of the XXXIV National Assembly of Terranostra, the Coldiretti agritourism association, on the eve of the International Day for Sustainable Gastronomy 2022 proclaimed by the UN which is celebrated on 18 June.
Food is the most important item of the summer holiday budget, surpassing that for accommodation, so much so that it becomes the main reason for the trip for many tourists.
The return of vacationers to restaurants, bars and agritourisms, notes Coldiretti, is a breath of fresh air for a sector such as catering, severely penalized by two years of emergency with a crack of about 65 billion euros.
To weigh, specifies Coldiretti, was above all the strong reduction of foreign tourists who are true enthusiasts of Made in Italy food and wine.
A summer that will also be good for typical products, a historical and cultural heritage very popular with vacationers who with their purchases will help save them from extinction and protect the economic and employment development of many territories.
And on the occasion of the assembly, the preview exhibition of the "Seals of Campagna Amica 2022" of the summer, of national foods saved from oblivion, was set up.
