You'll have to believe us when we say it's not an easy job, not an easy one at all.

To experience all the new products that come out of the Israeli market (and sometimes even outside it), to taste before everyone else, deliveries and more deliveries, paper bags that accumulate in the office (and at home), a constant feeling of satiety.

Seriously, it's harder than it looks, and no one is paying you for the gym, or compensating you for the rapidly evolving sense of FOMO in the mind.

For all the articles in the "New on the Shelf"

section, however, the "New on the Shelf" section, with its tasters, curious and loyal consumers, has hit the road again.

And this time - Israeli nostalgia, Portuguese inspiration and a serious surprise from the United States.

Yes, we are very eclectic.

enjoy your meal!

Mac Chicken, McDonald's

You may have heard of it, you may have managed to live off the grid, but the hamburger giant is reviving the Mac Chicken, in a kind of cute nostalgic comeback (accompanied by a moderate and implicit campaign).

The sandwich, which was a sales hit when the chain landed in Israel in 1993, joins McDonald's existing chicken collection, which includes, among others, the Nuggets, the Chicken Steak and the Crispy Chicken.

This is a sandwich with a chicken patty with a crispy coating (NIS 17 per unit, NIS 37 per meal, NIS 29 for a double and NIS 48 for a double meal), which goes into the familiar bun and goes well with lettuce and mayonnaise.

The result is simple, in a good section, the textures play nicely together, the price is reasonable in relation to what happens outside, and the taste will satisfy the nuggets lovers well.

In two words: the nineties are back.

Munch meal, Domino's Pizza and Sweetweet

A brainstorm that can only be described as excessive, led to excessive cooperation, and excessive packaging, in the form of a "meal meal" based on pizza and many other things.

This is a limited edition, of course, which includes a family pizza (without toppings), a drinking bottle of a liter and a half and a dedicated "sweetbox" (NIS 175 + delivery), or a tin of two families and a box for NIS 209.90 (and delivery).

The reception for the messenger was more enthusiastic than usual, especially among the younger members of the household, who see a box of sweets in front of their eyes and imagine a whole world of temptations in one nimble unboxing life.

The pizza was fun, hot and delicious, the box included quite a few after-party accessories in the form of gummy candies, cookies, chocolates and savory snacks, and together a kind of slightly intriguing synergy of popping was created.

In two words: Do not judge.

Pastel de Nate, Showroom Bakehouse

Kim and Chloe Webb's American Sweet Empire skips across the Atlantic, lands in Portugal and embarks on this whole journey with a new collection of Pastel de Nate.

This is a local take on the well-known Portuguese pastry, which is slowly establishing itself here and getting the credit it deserves.

The square offer of the Showhouse bakehouse includes, for now, four versions, all based on vanilla cream - a classic with a little cinnamon on top, chocolate, berries and salted caramel.

Price: NIS 10 per unit.

The beautiful case (almost needless to say, because it's always beautiful here), inspired by the colorful sidewalks of Lisbon, opened, and the pastries were snatched up in the energy-filled space of the Walla system.

The puff pastry was crispy and brown as required (though it could go even one step more corrupt and buttery), and the various fillings provided the desired texture play.

The classic was successful and sweet in just the right degree, the chocolate was cute, the salty caramel version took it all to richer counties, but our favorite was the pairing with the berries, which gave the bite an ideal balance.

In six words: a short vacation in Portugal, without the queue at Ben Gurion Airport.

Vegan sausages, Deer Castle

The veteran meat company is belatedly but elegantly joining the substitute refrigerators, with vegan soy-based sausages.

The series includes, for now, spicy-style hot dogs, chorizo-style hot dogs and American-style hot dogs - all in 400-gram packages, which include 8 units.

Well, the packaging has been thawed, heated and set off on the kitchen path, while providing a pretty good experience, especially given the market usually known for its shortcomings.

The annoyance provided a relatively mild spiciness to the shashlik, the chorizos grilled and came off relatively smoky and fun, while the Americans made a rise into a bun, were flooded with sauces and some vegetables, and eliminated.

In six words: a worthy option for substitutes, but not only.

Rice from the world, Mia

Mia Food Industries is launching a series of rice from around the world, based on global growing products, with packages that think about the local climate.

The series includes five types of rice - Persian, basmati, jasmine, whole and round aimed at risotto.

Price: NIS 8.90-10.90 for a kilo package.

The colorful bags landed flawlessly, with a good sense of durability (though we are still waiting for the reopening trick to live up to its promises).

The basmati rice was first opened, to serve as a neutral substrate for a thick vegetable stew.

The taste was good, and the texture was good as well.

The Persian rice continued the trend, with a small pot that gave a nice product of "one by one", and the starchy risotto - the third cooked - was also liked by us thanks to its thickness and Italianness.

In two words: a series for Bing.

Quinoa-Chocolate Bars, Undercover

And we will prepare for the end, naturally, with something else sweet: Sagi Group lands the American Undercover series in Israel, with roasted quinoa snacks in a chocolate-free, gluten-free coating.

The opening quintet, for now, includes dark chocolate, quinoa and sea salt, dark chocolate, quinoa and pomegranates, dark chocolate, quinoa and blueberries, quinoa coated in milk chocolate with added twilight and milk chocolate and quinoa with a little sea salt.

Price: 14.90 for a 57 gram package.

Well, raised eyebrows and bubbling skepticism accompanied the opening of the bags, but after that everything straightened out.

The snacks are delicious, crunchy, fun and chocolatey, and have run adults and children alike.

There are health statements here and a "perfect snack" that should be taken with a limited guarantee of course, but sometimes big words hide the simple truth - this undercover knows how to work.

In one word: attrition.

Strawberry Cornflakes, Thelma

Thelma's Strawberry Cornflakes (Photo: Studio 0304)

The Thelma Cornflakes series is expanding, with the launch of a strawberry edition that is defined as special.

The new grains, which join the honey-vanilla-maple-banana flavors, continue the line of neutral color and the line of hints of flavor.

That is, you will not find milk here that turns pink and does not have an aggressive taste, but more sweetness that radiates strawberry without raging too much.

It's cute, it's childish (in a good way) and it can be even less sweet (a teaspoon of sugar and a quarter in a 30 gram serving, and it is well known that we all sit on a bowl of cornflakes with 30 grams and no more).

In three words: a morning that the children will love.
