(ANSA) - WASHINGTON, 17 JUN - A policeman armed with an Ar-15 semiautomatic rifle hesitated when he had a brief chance to disperse to the killer who was approaching the elementary school of Uvalde because he was afraid of hitting even children.
The New York Times reveals it citing a deputy sheriff who spoke to that policeman.
The fateful decision represents the second missed opportunity for the officers who arrived at the school to prevent the massacre, as they went into action after more than an hour even though they arrived almost immediately.
Two teachers and 19 pupils died in the shooting.
