During a bike ride in his native Delaware, Joe Biden wanted to get off to talk to passers-by. Seconds later, the US President was on the ground. A toe clip was probably to blame.

US President Joe Biden fell on his bike while on a weekend trip.

The accident apparently had no consequences, as the White House announced.

Biden is spending the weekend at his private estate in the coastal town of Rehoboth, in his home state of Delaware.

In the morning, the 79-year-old and his wife Jill left for the trip.

Video shows Biden riding his bike, accompanied by his security guards, before stopping to speak to passers-by.

As a result, he fell over on his bicycle.

According to the White House, Biden caught his foot in the toe clip while dismounting.

"I'm doing well"

The US President wore a helmet and, according to the press traveling with him, got up immediately after the fall and answered questions.

"I'm fine," he said accordingly.

The Bidens continued their bike ride five minutes after the unfatal fall.

The result of the fall was above all "a wild confusion between the Secret Service and the press," according to the White House press distribution list.

Biden suffered no visible scratches or bruises.

“No medical treatment is required.

The President looks forward to spending the rest of the day with his family," the official said.

Biden is the oldest US president to date and his health is often the subject of speculation.

In November 2021, his doctor had certified him to be "healthy" and "robust".
