(ANSA) - BOGOTÁ, JUN 19 - Senator Gustavo Petro is the new president of Colombia based on the rapid count made by the National Electoral Register in Bogotà. It is the first time in Colombian history that a leader of the left has assumed the highest office in the state.
With the poll of 97.06% of the seats, Petro together with his deputy France Marquez won 10,984,247suffrages (50.57%), while the challenger Rodolfo Hernández got 10,242,763 votes (47.16%).
