The grandiose show, which was initiated by rapper Philoni (Danny Kirk from the band SBK, which is also shrinking these days) together with the artistic director Noam Feingold and produced by the TOMIX group, will take place on August 27 at Menora Mivtachim Hall in Tel Aviv. The evening of the original "All the Box Office" took place about two decades ago in Hangar 11, in the early days of the Israeli rap and hip-hop scene that was taking shape at the time.
It was attended by artists such as Subliminal, Shabak S., Purple 59, Muki, The Snake Fish and the other "regular suspects" whose name comes up when the first wave of hip-hop in Israel is mentioned - in its mainstream format.
Alongside them appeared popular artists who are not rappers by definition, such as Mosh Ben Ari and Fools of Prophecy.
The current show will be an up-to-date version of the event, which has since become a local hip-hop mythology, and will showcase the latest in the genre's singers in the country.
"The first 'All the Box Office' started out of a desire to create a show of strength and presence of rap and groove music, and the goal was to show how it has already been integrated into Israeli music, like any other style," says Philoni.
"When we in GSS S. we started doing rap in the mid-90s, all the articles about us dealt with the claim that it is not possible to do rap in Hebrew at all.
