2022-06-20T06:22:58.819Z

When they started, they were told that "Israeli rap can not be done," but this summer, 20 years since the previous time, the best Israeli artists from the genre will unite for a show. • Rapper Philoni, one of the event's initiators:

Tuna, Ravid Plotnik, Noga Erez, Teddy Ngusa, Eco, Atar Meiner and others will soon take part in the show "Kol Hakupa", which will bring together the best Israeli rappers on one stage.

The grandiose show, which was initiated by rapper Philoni (Danny Kirk from the band SBK, which is also shrinking these days) together with the artistic director Noam Feingold and produced by the TOMIX group, will take place on August 27 at Menora Mivtachim Hall in Tel Aviv. Names like: Michael Cohen, Jimbo J, Sima Nun, Shekel, Lukech, Tamir Bar, Tzukush, Avraham Lagassa, Ortega, Uri Shochat and DJ Mesh, Shock Culture, Eden Darso, Tapash, Vibe Ish, Uzal and the composition Introduction to the Dudas.

This is actually a second show that takes place under this name.

The evening of the original "All the Box Office" took place about two decades ago in Hangar 11, in the early days of the Israeli rap and hip-hop scene that was taking shape at the time.

It was attended by artists such as Subliminal, Shabak S., Purple 59, Muki, The Snake Fish and the other "regular suspects" whose name comes up when the first wave of hip-hop in Israel is mentioned - in its mainstream format.

Alongside them appeared popular artists who are not rappers by definition, such as Mosh Ben Ari and Fools of Prophecy.

The current show will be an up-to-date version of the event, which has since become a local hip-hop mythology, and will showcase the latest in the genre's singers in the country.

"The first 'All the Box Office' started out of a desire to create a show of strength and presence of rap and groove music, and the goal was to show how it has already been integrated into Israeli music, like any other style," says Philoni.

"When we in GSS S. we started doing rap in the mid-90s, all the articles about us dealt with the claim that it is not possible to do rap in Hebrew at all.

Everyone was against it.

The original event was basically a connection of all the artists in the genre together.

Everyone lowered their egos and together we created a three-hour show, which was a real celebration of the victory of Canaanite Hebrew rap. "

As a show, "All the Box Office 2.0" as Philoni calls it, is built as a mixtape of live bands.

That is, the show, which will take place in the format of a 360-degree stage, will continuously roll from coach to artist without breaks or breaks, and is all a combination of sets of di.

Jay for a show with live instruments.

"There really was no such thing in the country," he says.

"I am also very happy that today, compared to then, there are quite a few rappers who take part in the scene and lead it. It is a huge honor to participate in such an evening and connect with the next generation, which has taken music and genre to another level. Rap in Israel has come a long way in the last 20 years ".
