A Rewe customer expressed her criticism of the supermarket's food delivery online and immediately suggested a solution.

Munich – Some supermarkets and discounters such as Edeka, Netto and Rewe offer their customers the option of ordering groceries online and having their purchases conveniently delivered to their front door.

Most providers offer the same range online as in the local supermarket.

This includes both fresh fruit and vegetables, as well as refrigerated and frozen products, fresh goods or drugstore and household products.

A Rewe customer had an unsatisfactory experience with the supermarket's delivery service and shared her complaint online.

Rewe customer complains about food delivery

The customer contacted the supermarket chain via Twitter.

"You're not serious, Rewe," she began her post angrily.

She is happy that Rewe is offering grocery deliveries to customers' doorsteps, especially since her family is currently isolated at home and cannot go out to shop.

But there is still room for improvement when it comes to the delivery method: According to the customer, the groceries ordered were delivered in ten small and half-full paper bags.

"What do we do with it now?" she asked.

The customer even had a solution ready for her problem with the delivery of groceries.

Instead of the many paper bags, which she seems to have no use for, she supplied Rewe with an alternative.

“How about a deposit box?” she suggested to the company.

Rewe reacts: Sustainability is "very important"

A little later, Rewe itself responded to the customer's post on Twitter.

A member of the communications team commented: "Our warehouses are automated in such a way that picking is carried out according to certain criteria such as product groups or weight.

Of course, sustainability is very important to us, which is why we are trying to further develop the use of paper bags in the future.”

However, the customer was not satisfied with this answer.

"Unfortunately that's not helpful," she wrote to Rewe, "What do I do with 10 bags now?" She couldn't use the amount of paper bags at all, also because she couldn't do the weekly shopping in the supermarket at the moment.

But Rewe had another solution ready for this problem: “You are welcome to reuse or dispose of the paper bags.

If you order again, you can hand them over to us upon delivery, and we will then dispose of the bags in a recyclable manner”.

Recently, a discount sign at Rewe caused a stir on Twitter.

Apparently, a true marketing genius is hiding behind an employee in the supermarket.
