A heat wave is rolling over Europe.

As a result, many are staying outside.

With sometimes devastating consequences.

But help is coming in the form of home remedies.

Munich – Summer is here and temperatures are rising all over Germany and Europe.

But some countries are groaning a lot under the extreme heat.

In Spain and France, the 40-degree mark has already been broken, and here in Germany people are sweating like crazy.

But many are happy about the hot summer days after the long winter and about finally being able to do more outside again.

But the joy can quickly be spoiled: at the latest when you come home after a long day in the sun and your head hurts or you feel dizzy.

After all, these are signs that you are likely suffering from sunstroke or heat stroke.

Sunstroke is easy if you stay in the sun too long without protection.

According to dermatologists, it is better to seek shade, wear long-sleeved clothing, sunglasses and a hat in summer and at lunchtime, according to dermatologists.

In addition, it is advisable to generously and regularly apply sunscreen products (with a high sun protection factor) to uncovered parts of the body.

Common symptoms of sunstroke include:

  • Red hot head

  • Headaches to migraines

  • Neck pain to neck stiffness

  • restlessness

  • tinnitus

  • nausea, vomiting and/or diarrhea

  • disturbances of consciousness

  • exhaustion

Direct and sometimes too strong sunlight on the head or neck area leads to irritation of parts of the brain or the meninges.

As a result, the body triggers an inflammatory reaction and brain swelling can even occur.

The perfidious thing about it is that the symptoms can usually appear hours after being in the sun. But what to do if you have sunstroke or heat stroke?

Sunstroke and heat stroke: Drinking plenty of water is important now

If the symptoms are only mild, home remedies can also relieve them.

Most importantly, get out of the sun immediately.

If the head is hot, cooling compresses on the head and neck will help.

To do this, take clean kitchen towels and spread cold quark or yoghurt on them.

Then turn it over once and spread the mass on the affected areas by smoothing the cloth.

At the same time, it cools and soothes reddened and irritated skin.

Finally, it is important to drink plenty of water immediately and for a few days afterwards to compensate for the loss of fluid from the burned skin.
