'Reduce withdrawals by 20% to continue irrigation anyway, but guarantee the flow of water also to the Delta'. Patuanelli announces a first meeting between the departments involved, soon a political meeting. Regions will ask for state of emergency and Pnrr funds (ANSA)

The Regions will ask the Government to declare a state of emergency for drought, in order to give priority to the human and agricultural use of water resources, and to make resources available, including the PNRR, to create new reservoirs.

This was reported to ANSA by the Veneto Councilor for Agriculture, Federico Caner, coordinator of the agricultural policy commission of the Conference of Regions.

These points have been included on the agenda of the Conference of Regions, scheduled for the day after tomorrow, Wednesday 22 June.

"The situation is delicate, we will soon update on a political level".

This was stated by the Minister of Agriculture, Stefano Patuanelli.

"Today - he added - there will be an important meeting between the cabinet heads of all the ministries involved: Mipaaf, Mite, Mef, Regional Affairs. Then - he concluded - we will update at the political level, the situation is delicate".

POURS RED ALARM BUT CONTINUES WATERING

- Continue with irrigation, despite the situation being a "red light".

This is the indication that came from the observatory on the Po that met to tackle the problem of drought.

The proposal arrived is that of a transitional measure to balance the use of the remaining water: reduce withdrawals by 20% to continue irrigation anyway, but guarantee the flow of water also to the Delta.

The salt wedge in the Po has reached 21 kilometers: this is one of the most alarming data that emerged from the observatory for the Po, convened by the basin authority in Parma, to take stock of the situation.

When the flow is too low, in fact, the salt water of the sea "rises" along the river, making it unusable for irrigation.

At Pontelagoscuro, near the city of Ferrara, a flow rate of 180 cubic meters per second was recorded, a symptom of a state of "extreme water gravity".

STATE OF CALAMITY IN LAZIO

- "In the next few hours I will proclaim a state of natural disaster".

This was announced by the president of the Lazio Region Nicola Zingaretti.

"The state of Calamity will serve to immediately adopt the first measures and to invite the mayors to the first containment rules. Obviously we must prepare for a situation that will be very critical which will have to be based on saving water for all activities, starting with family consumption", he said. said.

STATE OF EMERGENCY AND CIVIL PROTECTION

- "We must ask for a state of emergency, linked to the intervention of the Civil Protection": said Ettore Prandini, President Coldiretti, this morning by participating in a video link to the conference 'Food safety and quality of water resources' which took place at the Palazzo Stelline in Milan, talking about the drought that is hitting Italy.

"We must invest quickly - he added - in accumulation basins. With respect to everything concerning the purification issue, we must not create obstacles because there is 12% of water that does not have the characteristics. We must create the conditions for which that 12 percent goes exactly in line with what are parameters that we demand in the reuse of purified water, but we must have the

intelligence to be able to use everything that will be made available to us.

Otherwise the difficulties will fall on our world ".
