"It's time to make one last wish" I thought and bit into the pita.
Hell, it's just worth it
In terms of "quantity-quality-price" the grace of the Netanya pita is one of the best lunches I have eaten recently

Big and satisfying.
The charm of pita (Photo: David Rosenthal)
The journey in Ayalon North ends and you find yourself connecting to Highway 2. This is probably the moment when you too are exposed to a phenomenon called the "Netanya skyline" - mountains of light-colored buildings that look like they are threatening to rush towards you and your brides, a tsunami of towers.
Without checking whether this figure is official, I bet that in the western part of the city, close to the sea, there are the most towers in the country per square meter. This Tatar block is simply inconceivable. We will have no chance left.
Netanya has undergone an image and real estate revolution in recent decades.
Every year at least one new neighborhood is happy there, the city in a crazy construction boom.
At the end of 2021, the CBS report came out which showed that prices had risen by 38 percent.
Would you like to buy an apartment in one of the new neighborhoods today?
good luck with that.
Only on Herzl Street, the main artery that connects the Netanya interchange to the beach, did time stop running.
The buildings are old and low, the shops are the same shops they used to be, convoys of buses are stopping the traffic.
It can be seen in a negative context, but to me nice when a city keeps its soul, its beating heart.

I did not think that I would find one of the best shawarms in the country here

A perfect package deal (Photo: David Rosenthal)
Every heart needs blood to work, and the blood of a city in my eyes is mostly culinary options.
After all, what is an urban artery if it does not have a variety of restaurants and eateries from everything nearby?
Fortunately, Herzl Street is a great blood vessel in this respect.
Every meter you walk you come across a stall of sandwiches, shawarma, falafel, hamburger, grilled, fricassee (Tripolitan pride), pastries and more.
I tried to stop and choose, the difficulty was great.
I wandered back and forth like a curry in a bracket, wondering what I would miss if I chose one place or another.
But life is full of difficult decisions and choices and you have to know how to deal with them.
The pur fell on a small place called "The Grace of Pita."
Truth be told, he caught my eye from the first moment because he looked like a classic street food bar, but I walked around for another quarter of an hour until I decided to close the circle.
Yes, it's a deep-fried pita coated in bread crumbs (Photo: David Rosenthal)
"The Chen in Pita" is a small place that specializes in meat dishes, along with a few non-meat dishes, in pita, plate or baguette.
So far it has no uniqueness, but there were two elements that still caught my eye.
One is the prices, which are significantly lower than those I am used to in the central area.
The other is the fried pita, a pita coated in bread crumbs that I tasted for the first time on a visit to Gerla in Rishon Lezion about a month before.
I went for this dish with chicken (40 shekels) and chips on the side.
I loaded everything inside, took 8 shekels (if it was an old-fashioned street, then an old-fashioned drink) and sat down.
Deep-fried pita in bread crumbs is not good news for the heart, but it is an excellent match for the taste buds.
Until the first defeat I still had doubts about whether the chicken was the filling I should take, but with the bite they disappeared.
It was good, made in the right measure and plunged into my stomach perfectly along with the plethora of fried eggplants I had scrambled inside.
I have a little pool of oil now in my stomach, I thought, it's time to express my last wish, but come on - it's just worth it.
Small, small, but rich.

I exploded.
Is this the best meal I've had?
No, but it's good enough to do the "quantity-quality-price" weighting and rule that for 48 shekels I got one of the best changes for lunch lately, especially after the especially expensive sandwich I tried in Holon a week before.
It was definitely fun and satisfying, and I even stayed alive to tell.
This is not the end, this is just the beginning.
I feel like I just started my culinary affair with Netanya.
There are so many things to try here, and I'm sure I'll be back soon.
Of course, on the condition that I will not be washed away by the wave of towers that looks at me angrily from Road 2. The
