Ear reconstruction surgery was performed on a 9-year-old boy from Nablus at Bnei Zion Medical Center in Haifa.
The operation, which lasted about five hours, was performed by senior doctors and surgeons in the Department of Plastic Surgery, Dr. Ami Barak and Dr. Nir Bitterman.
Dr. Ami Barak: "During the operation, rib cartilage was taken and the reconstructed ear was built, which was not there.
Another phase will be completed in about six months.
"This is one of the most complex reconstructive surgeries in plastic surgery that requires a lot of training and experience."
The Bnei Zion Medical Center also stated that "the child will soon be released to his home and is due to arrive from his area of residence in Nablus for inspections at the Bnei Zion Medical Center."
