This is enough to disappoint the most party-goers of Lille.
The city of Lille has banned amplified music outdoors, on the occasion of the Music Festival this Tuesday.
In the columns of La Voix du Nord, the town hall of Lille explains that it has "decided to restore its letters of nobility to amateur practices, which are the very essence of the Fête de la musique".
Microphones and speakers are therefore prohibited on public roads.
Outside, only choristers, acoustics or other musicians will be allowed.
"Everyone must be heard and listened to", adds the town hall of Lille to our colleagues from the Voix du Nord.
The stated goal of the municipality is also to avoid overflows in the streets.
Amplified music will only be allowed in bars and restaurants.
These will have the authorization to sound their establishments until 2 o'clock in the morning.
However, the terraces will have to be tidied up at midnight.
A measure that divides
Faced with this decision, a petition entitled “Lille: for a real music festival 2022” lists, this Tuesday morning, 1000 signatures.
“After the Covid period, culture takes another hit on the head”, writes Stéphane Boudry, at the origin of this petition.
The municipality's justifications also did not convince Violette Spillebout, member of the municipal opposition and newly elected deputy under the Together label.
“What are you doing, Madam Mayor, with the festive spirit of this historic event, and the attractiveness of our city, capital of its metropolis and the region?
“, she writes in an open letter published on her site in which she calls for” a real Music Festival in Lille “.
