"I no longer live with my biological father, nor do I want to be related to him in any way": With these words, one of Tesla boss Elon Musk's children explains why he wants his name officially changed.
Among other things, the Reuters news agency and the US portal "TMZ" quote from court documents from which this reasoning should emerge.
The motion was filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court in Santa Monica in April.
The details of this have only now become public.
According to media reports, there will be a hearing on the case on Friday.

However, the desire to distance oneself from the famous father is not the only reason for the name change: it should also be about officially recognizing the identity as a woman.
After his birth 18 years ago, the Musk offspring was given the name Xavier Alexander Musk.
However, he identifies as a woman and, according to court documents, wants to change his name to Vivian Jenna Wilson.
In other words: a female name and no longer connected to the father's last name.
A new birth certificate will also be issued in the new name.
Elon Musk has seven children in total.
He was married to his first wife Justine Wilson from 2000 to 2008.
The couple had twins (including Vivian Jenner) and triplets.
Elon Musk has two more children with singer Grimes.
Nothing is known about the relationship between Elon Musk and Vivian Jenner.
The Reuters news agency said it tried to email Musk himself and Tesla's media office for a statement.
However, no reply was received, it said.
The application for the name change was filed on April 18.
In May, Musk said he supports the US Republicans -- whose representatives support a series of laws that would restrict transgender rights across the country.
In late 2020, Musk tweeted that he was supportive of transgender people, "but all these pronouns are an aesthetic nightmare."
