Pea Guacamole Recipe: The Ingredients

  • 175 g peas (fresh or frozen)

  • 1 clove garlic

  • 1/2 red onion

  • 1 tomato

  • 1/2 chilli (can be omitted)

  • 1.5 tbsp olive oil

  • juice of 1/2 lemon

  • salt and pepper

Healthy alternative

Peas are suitable as an avocado substitute for guacamole for various reasons: They have a creamy consistency and a mild taste.

In addition, they are regional and healthy: the small green balls are full of protein, vitamins and fiber.

This is how you make delicious pea guacamole: without any avocados

  • Boil the peas in a saucepan with a little water for about 5 minutes.

    Then pour the cooking water into a container and set aside – you will need it later!

    Mash the peas with a hand blender.

  • Peel the garlic and onion and cut both into small cubes.

    With these tricks, onion cutting works without tears.

  • Wash and cut the tomato into fine pieces as well.

    If you like it spicy and want to use chili, cut the pod into small pieces.

  • Now mix the pea puree with garlic, onion, tomato, chili and olive oil and lemon juice.

    Gradually add some of the pea cooking water from step 1 to get the right consistency.

    Season the guacamole with salt and pepper.

  • The

    homemade pea guacamole

    is ready.

    It is best to let the dip cool down in the fridge for a few hours so that it can infuse well and tastes even better.

    You can also store the guacamole in the fridge for a few days by filling it in a container with a lid.
